I started painting when I retired seven years ago. My first love is watercolours, but I also like working in watermixable oils, and some pastel. I do landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes. I also do some portraits.
I work mainly from photos taken when out walking, but have also done some plein-air watercolour sketches and drawing sketches from which I work up a finished painting.
My work is mainly representative, but I sometimes like to do abstract, and I really have some fun with surreal paintings.
I have no formal training to speak of other than lessons with local schools on one or two mornings per week. I am a member of Southend Art Club, and was until moving about 18 months ago a member of Essex Art Club and Barking Art Society.
